What inspired you about that piece? I liked the contrast between heaven and hell and the obvious struggle between them. The angels were scattered about and were hard to find, which was kind of symbolic of how hard it can be to find faith (At least that's how I interpreted it). As a person who isn't religious, I wanted to tackle something with some real meaning behind it. What is the piece called? (artist, title, medium) The piece is called The Last Judgement by Crispijn van den Broeck. It is made with oil on cradled panel and depicts the heaven and hell scene, inspired by Michelangelo's painting in the Sistine Chapel. Tell me about your process start to finish. I first made a bunch of feathers out of paper, then I cut out one of the wings from cardboard. I glued the feathers down layer by layer, from the mangled outer layer of the wings to the neater inside of the wing. I then repeated the process with the second wing. Then, I burned certain parts of the wings and made some extra feathers to burn as well. I then hot glued the hooks to the back of the wings.

This week was spent glazing my birds and firing my nest. I was able to glaze all of my birds and eggs, and I would have been able to paint my nest if I didn't get sick with the flu halfway through the week. Next week I want to finish this project and start on my next one, as cute as these birds are, I desperately want to move on.
I have been able to use the wheel and make a successful bowl, which I've been trying to cover with clay strings to make a nest. On Friday, my birds were able to come out of the kiln and I sanded them. I was also able to finish putting the strings on the bowl and put it in the kiln to be fired. Next week I hope to finish glazing the birds and glaze the nest once it is fired.
This week has been very frustrating, as all of my attempts at art haven't been working out. At the beginning of the week, I tried to make a nest of twigs, but it wouldn't take the right shape. Towards the end of the week, I tried to use the wheel to make the nest, but I had to learn how to use it and my first attempts were too big. Hopefully next week I will be able to make a successful nest!
I've been working on these little birds, that will eventually go into my object to art project. There are three birds in total, and they took a lot longer than I was anticipating. Next week, I'm going to try to get the bulk of this new project done, which means tackling the nest, and I'm not sure what the best method and material is for that.
This week, I was able to burn the edges of the wings and hot glue a wire to the back as a hook. I was able to hang them up and finish them for the most part. I'm considering making a couple extra feathers to hang on the wall as well, but I may go on to the next project and leave this one behind. Next week, I'd like to start the next project, which is the object to art piece.
I've been working on this pair of wings all week. It's been rough cutting out that many feathers, but they're mostly done, with the exception of burning parts of the wings and making some extra feathers. Next week, I'm going to try to start to finish these wings and start to work on the next project.
